The truth of Sonic 2 Gamma savestate
Recently there is a Sonic 2 Gamma Genecyst savestate floating around the net, featuring the Hidden Palace Zone with some sprites change. Is it really form the Gamma ROM, or is it just a hoax? You're only one click away from the truth.

    New Genesis Maintainer
Guess who? That's right! (No, not Woody WoodPecker) I, NO CARRIER will be taking over the Genesis section, now that Lorsua has retired from maintaining that section. Besided maintaining the usual emulator based content, I will be adding some badly need fun and exciting new features to the section, like links and apps to help aid an individual into programing their own Genesis games, or projects like a Genesis gamepad adaptor for your PC. To top it all off, I will be writting (or attempt to write) my own Sega Genesis tech doc which with try to explain alot of the features of the Genesis in normal English.

I am currently researching on how to program my own sega Genesis game, while trying to hack away at the Sonic & Knuckles cart to force it to enable Sonic 2 when lock-ed on to that cart, so don't expect anything new anytime soon. But trust me, I'm not slacking! (Hay, creating something new takes time.)

    Site Search Engine Added
Though it was made available to me from the guys at EmulationWorld for quite some time, I havn't had the time to sit down and add it in properly... until now. The 'Zone is now equiped with the custimizable SWISH++ site search engine, which should make locating things on the 'Zone alot easier! I also added a little extra feature of my own that hardcore search engine fanatics will enjoy.

Page Annoucements and Under Construction Section Discontinued
I really shouldn't maintain a section that no one will visit. The Page Annoucements and Under Construction Sections are prime examples. If you really really really want to know what we are up to, email me. I doubt these sections will be missed because I hardly ever updated them.

On the up side, I have decided to "assimulate" the layout of Page Annoucements section to redo the ugly looking "Updates" Page, which is being maintained on a near daily basis.

    SNEeSe V0.25 released:
A new version of this SNES emulator for dos is out heres whats new From the readme: What can SNEeSe do in this version? """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" Implemented features follow: - 65c816 with 254/256 opcodes (not instructions) implemented, including BRK/COP interrupts. The last two remain unimplemented since they do nothing too important and can help detect runaway ROMs! - NMI/IRQ interrupts running although timings are a little out (especially in IRQ!) - Hblank/Vblank CPU timing - Partial SlowROM/FastROM support (fixed-cycle, buggy). - Memory mappings for LoROM/HiROM. - All 8 DMA channels, modes 0-4, 5-7 are supported but may be incorrect. - HDMA operations 0-4 implemented, absolute and indirect addressing (some timing bugs). - Partial SPC700 support. Only TCALL, BRK and BCD instructions are not supported yet. Does not maintain constant sync with main CPU and can cause 'freezes' where the SPC is catching up. Buggy. - Partial sound DSP support and sound generation. Very low quality (as SPC and sound do not keep sync). - Most hardware registers should be done ('cept some undocumented stuff). - SNES joypads 1 and 2 are supported. - Video modes 0-7, 8x8 and 16x16 tiles, X/Y flip, palette mapping, scrolling, tile priorities. - Screen sizes 32x32, 64x32, 32x64, and 64x64 supported. - Sprites are supported in all sizes (8x8, 16x16, 32x32, 64x64), with name and base select and priority rotation. - Partial 16x8 tile support. - Partial vertical offset change mode support in mode 2 (buggy). - Mouse support is working for those ROMs that use it. - Specialized 'squashed' copy so entire SNES screen is visible on a standard VGA mode screen. - Speed throttling (doesn't appear to work consistently with mode 7.) - GUI and config file.

As promised earlier today, the listing of job openings on the site are now up. There are MANY positions open, ranging over a wide variety of skills and talents, (some positions no longer require HTML coding capabilities,) and the descriptions are a lot more detailed now then they were in the past.
There are too many positions to list here, so I recommend you give the Want Ads Section a visit if you are interested in a position on the ‘Zone staff.

    Emulation Reality Moves
The Emulation Reality (ER) site has be moved to "sections" part of the site because it has not been getting the attention like it did when it debut. If you recall the site was formed by Ranjae and myself at the spur of the moment when Nintendo and the IDSA were at their peak in hurassing the Emulation scene. The section has ben in "hibernation" mode ever since the treat has past. I am keeping it up instead of pulling it's plug so it can be "woken-up" at the next occasion of crisis that the emulation scene may face.

Doughboy Resigns/ Manu to Make a ComeBack
Doughboy, the old NES maintainer, has resigned from the 'Zone staff. He is leaving for various personal matters that I will not repeat on this page. We wish Doughboy the best of luck on his future endeavors.

Manu, the old N64 section maintainer, is pondering over a comeback to temporarily return as the N64 maintainer! If you recall, Manu is responsible from bring the N64 section of the 'Zone to what it is today (with a some HTML clean-ups by Veralden and myself. :-) I'm still waiting on the final word.

    Server Acting Kinda s-l-o-w
I have been informed that Brahn, the server admin of EmulationWorld (our host) did an upgrade to the server. When it was put back online, the server took awhile longer then expected to rebuild its cache, so the site took forever to load, even severial hours after the modifications were made. Everything should be normal now.
Other sites affected by this problem were www.retrogames.com and www.emulationworld.com and all it's sites.

NO CARRIER Back From the Crypt
Hi everyone. I solved my PC problems. Luckily, my motherboard was not fired as I first though. Instead, it was my CPU fan going through a slow "death". I say death with quotes because it was a conspicuous death.

Apparently, my CPU cooling fan has started a nasty habit of only activating when it "felt" like it, on power-up of the system. On my last run, the fan stopped and my CPU began to overheat. (I didn't notice it at the time.) When it did, my system froze. I tried to reboot (by power cycling) and the machine won't start! I took the system apart piece by piece to find out what was wrong., while though all this time, the fan WAS working. SO, I almost gave up hunting for the problem and assumed the worse, until I noticed that the fan did not activate on power-up attempt.

So, I bought a new CPU cooling fan and all is well now. :-) I'll be back in action on Sunday.

    Combi-Sonic v0.05 Released!
First of all, many of you were disopointed about the "illegal versions" thing. So, I thought about it and relized it was kinda dumb. So, all old versions that you own are legal now! Now about the headline here, Combi-Sonic v0.05 is out! Many more engie enhancements and bug fixes. Also, Fusion Factory now has a redical new background. Wait, did I say "background"? I meant "frontround"! I have an awsome water technic that will allow Sonic to go underwater and have the game still run at great pace! Emerald Cave is being reconstructed and turned into Crystal Cave. Electric City is now Circuit City. See a pattern? Fusion Factory, Crystal Cave, and Curcuit City now have the same first letter each of the names! Nothing big about that, but just tohught you would like to know! For those of you getting errors trying to get it to load "Levels.cca", there is now hope! I have fixed that problem! One more thing. I am now allowing users to see all parts of development in the game with all the passwords in the readme file. That about wraps it up.

NO CARRIER Out for the Count
Hi all. My motherboard bit the dust, so I'm out of a PC until I can get a replacement. Therefore, I won't be around for awhile to add/update/manage the site until I get a new motherboard. (After all, all my stuff is on it.) I'll still be around to answer my email from work, but that be the extent of what I can do for now, since I have no PC. I try to be back in operation within two weeks.

    Combi-Sonic: Older Versions
I am now announcing that any versions of Combi-Sonic that are older than version 0.03 are now considered illegal to own for personal reasons. If you own an illegal copy, delete it off your computer right away. Anybody that has an old version and I catch them, they will be restricted from downloading newer versions. I have an idea on how I can restrict people from downloading, but it hasn't been confirmed yet. If you know anyone who has an old version, let them know about this anouncment and if they refuse, tell me. Version 0.03 may become illegal when 0.05 is released. This also hasn't been confirmed yet.
