Nes Page
Hello All! I will now be doing the NES page. Please don't email me about dead links, I know they are there and I'm taking care of them. As mentioned in an earlier news post, it was mentioned that the page was "highly outdated and collecting dust". It is. If I am missing emulators on the page them please e-mail them to me. iantri@emulationzone.org

SOnic Stuff Research Group Update
I created and post a few IPS format (Amiga's International Patching Standard) patches for those that are having trouble with the Sonic and Knuckles "lock-on" trick with the Sonic 3 and the Sonic 1 Roms. WE are still researching on why the Sonic 2 ROM will not work.
I also have a special request: if anyone has any old Sonic 2, Sonic 3, and/or S&K carts they wish to donate (damaged or ripped open ones prefered) let me know. I want to explore some hardware leads, which requires me to hack open the cart itself. (That's why I'm requesting broken carts. :-) Don't worry, I'm a computer engineering major, so I better know what I'm doing. :-)
In related news, the SaxMan has made yet another update to the Sonic 2 hacking guide. More hacking information has been added and more info on the upcoming Sonic editor!
And finally, we'll be adding a new addition to the section. I'm not going to say what it is yet, because it's a surprise.

Programmers Wanted!
I need somebody who has any experience in programming. I need OCX plug-ins for use with Click & Create and will later need them for Multimedia Fusion. I also need a program that can convert CNC/MMF games to 32X ROM images. I know that it would be an extremly hard task, but I have good plans for a 32X version of my game! If you are interested in helping me out, e-mail me at saxman@shentel.net and I will fill you in on the details!

Slow Server Responces
Some of you might have noticed that the server has been acting a bit slow lately. Well, this isn't your imagination, this is the truth! The 'Zone shares the same server with some other big emulation sites, mainly Emucamp and Retrogames. The server can handle the load of us all, but the recent release of NeoRage and MAME on Retrogames is creating alot of extra traffic. So please bear with us for the time being, the admin is trying to find a solution.

"Meet the Staff" Chat
We are holding a 'Zone Staff meeting Friday, April 23, 1999 (today!) at 10:00pm EST on irc.prison.com (or any EFNET server... I think) channel #emulzone. (Try #emuzone if the previous one is empty if you attend on time.) Feel free to drop in and voice your opinions.

Help Wanted
The people listed as "in charge" of the NES, SNES and Gameboy pages are incorrect. In fact, no one is offically in charge of either of them, so they are highly outdated and collecting dust. If anyone out there is interested in taking over any one or more of these sections, let NO CARRIER know. I'll fill you in with the deatils. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in studying the innards of their favorite console system, while providing to the rest of the world their findings. (Well, that's at how we do the coverage here at the 'Zone.)

TI-Cal Page Discontinued
James Popman has decided to quit the TI-Cal page due to lack of outside help. Though he gave a good amount of effort into the site, a section that large is no easy task. It's final state can be seen using the link below.

"Last Updated" Script Fixed!
Anyone that has visited a good majority of the pages on the ‘Zone can tell you that the “Last Updated” date fixed on top of most of the pages on the ‘Zone are invalid. The date displayed is either locked on Dec. 21, 1969 (literally), or displays the current date on the server, which makes the page seem it was updated on a daily basis, when it really was not. This was due to the fact that I was trying to use a JavaScript function on a page created at load time of the website visited, so technically, the “last modified date” was at that moment of time. Well, it’s a bug no more! Brahn, our admin, added a new toy to the list of features on the Emulation World server (or was it already there?) Anyhow, I replaced the JavaScript function with a CGI call that displays the date of the base file making the call. (This gets around the SSI issue, which is VERY important, because the code that does this is added on a SSI call as well. ) Some pages may still be screwed-up, because they are NOT using an SSI call, but rather have the JavaScript stored locally. We’ll fix those on a “page per page” basis.

Newstand leaves the 'Zone
After about a month of fun, I have decided to take the Emulation Newstand off of the Emulation Zone's servers. It's been a great run, but I have made this choice in light of many different reasons. One them being the fact that I got an offer I couldn't refuse from the Snes Emulation Centre staff. No the site isn't going COMPLETELY away, it's merging with the SEC. I've been following the SEC ever since the days of yore when it was a white background half site that only had emulators on it, and have been impressed with the immense progress it has made over the last couple of years. I will be moving all of the articles over to their servers and getting ready for some new stuff, or something. It's been real.. ~Geechyguy~

Combi-Sonic
Combi-Sonic is a Click & Create game I am working on. It will be a Chaotix style game with the "snap" (where the players are chained together). 16 action packed levels will be introduced such as Fusion Factory, Emerald Cave, Electric City, and more. 2 player split screen will also be avalible. Right now, it has a working Fusion Factory level, Sonic as the only playable character, and some very impressive "developing" resources in the game. Thats right, it will have a level editor and other goodies. It is in an early alpha stage. But, it has a lot to see so far. So, check it out!

EMULinks ROM Site Listing Added
True, the EMuLinks ROMs Site listing Page has been up for awhile now, but it was never setup corrently, even though Doughboy and Psychotron had the content to be added on separite "psudo" pages. So, having alittle time on my hands, I put the peices together and got the ROM Site Listing page up. There are a few display bugs with fonts for NS 3.0 users, but the text should display in white, verse in black like it used to. :-) Check it out and lets us know what you think!

SMS section updated
I updated the SMS section with version .11 of MEKA, which made by Zoop of EmuCamp. It is quite easy to use so if you haven't tried one before, try this one, you might like it. I also added two more save states to the .MSD archive. I was thinking of switching it to a Meka Save state archive too, since it is such a good emulator.

I any event, if you sent me an email message, email me at wacko413@hotmail.com instead for the time being.
