Final Fantasy VII - Playstation

I remember when I used to hate Final Fantasy. Sure, I loved Mario RPG, but I didn't even knew that was a RPG, I didn't even knew there was a RPG genre (I wasn't really into gaming then). But FFVII quickly changed my world. It started out... Crap, I'm babbling on too much, onto the review.
Final Fantasy VII's story involves a man named Cloud Strife, a mercenary for hire who will take any job. He's hired by the rebel group AVALANCHE to help them in their fight against the evil Shinra Corporation. But what begins as a simple bombing mission becomes a fight with the past, Cloud's past, a long thought dead warrior bent on becoming more and more powerful.
FFVII's graphics are some of the best in the genre. Cloud and the others are very well animated. The backgrounds are very detailed and sometimes you'll find yourself stopping to stare at the sights. The graphics aren't as detailed as those of today's (FFVIII, FFIX), but they are still very good. FFVII's CG cinema's are breathtaking! They also aren't as good as today's, but they still rock! Square was just experimenting with the CG and it was a huge success!! The CG's are beautiful to watch and I remember resetting the game about three times just to see one CG over and over again. FFVII's graphics were genre-busting, and they still are in some cases.
FFVII's music is some of the finest ever composed. Each track that you hear during each scene fits it perfectly. Whenever an emotional moment occurs, the dramatic music kicks in and, if you're the emotional type, you'll find tears streaming down your eyes (wait 'till a certain part and you'll see why). There was a scene when the music fitted the scene too perfectly and I had goosebumps! And, if you're like me, you'll find yourself humming the tunes for years to come.
The most addicting part of the game is the gameplay. No matter how catchy the music may be, no matter how incredible the graphics are, the gameplay is why I consider this the greatest game of all-time (that plus the story, the music...). With Materia, you can mix and match your magic, commands, summons and a whole plethora of other abilities in any way/order you want. Limit-Breakers are ultra-powerful attacks that kick in after you've taken enough damage. Active-Time-Battle (ATB) provides the most realistic form of combat, while still keeping the battles playable.
This game is just plain incredible! After only ten minutes of play, I right away considered this the greatest. Even if you hate RPGs, give this a shot, you'll love it. That's exactly what happened to me. I just want to finish on this final note: BUY IT!
